**7.18.08 - Just got back from a wonderful and hard long weekend I coordinated and taught in New Orleans at St. Marks Community Center.  Students were ages 8-17.  That city, those kids, that community needs love.  Can't wait to go back.

**7.12.08 - July 11th was the performance of Free Style at the Ford Amphitheatre (a show I helped create, teach, and Associate Direct)  and the best night of my entire life.  I have been working on this project since last October, and  I don't think there are enough words to describe what last night was for me.  This was something I've been wanting to share since I stepped into an inner-city classroom about 4 years ago.  Outside of performing, I feel it was been my "calling" to be in a classroom trying to get youth to express themselves through different art forms.  After working so intensely with over 1000 students on Free Style alone, I now feel I have a responsibility to share what I know and am learning from these students.  This was the first-step to that mainstream awareness I've been dreaming of.  Last night was completely overwhelming.  I'm still trying to organize my thoughts around it.  What I do know, is those students felt SO important. They felt the love in that audience and the celebration of their truth.  This gives you a taste of some of the work I've been doing over the last 4 1/2 years and why I'm addicted to it.

**6.1.08 - Mercer teaching artist, Alicia Matthewson, and I are working on a new media project for the Johnny Mercer Foundation to put our "Accentuate the Positive" lessons on-line so that there's more access nation-wide to our programs.
